Foot Of The Mountain

I'm slowly dipping back into my slide archive & finding all sorts of lost treasures: these are two of my favourite images from a fantastic holiday I went on to the Lake District two summers ago – as you can see, the typical rain held off for longer than usual! The Great Gable shot was taken at the end of a long day spent scaling Scafell Pike, a final glorious view just before returning to the car parked at Wasdale Head. The view across to Skiddaw & Blencathra came after a mad dash up Cat Bells from the lakeshore on the final morning just before I drove home – nothing like squeezing in as much as possible when on holiday, especially when the weather's that good!

The Butterfly Collector

While working hard in the garden over the last glorious weekend I suddenly realised that my buddleia was attracting all kinds of bees and butterflies. Needless to say, by the time I'd grabbed my camera most had scarpered, but I managed to catch a few shots of this little fellow sipping madly from the myriad blooms!

West Of The Fields

Taking advantage of the superb weather on Saturday I finally got my hands on an OS map for the area and did a lovely circular walk from Gazeley to Dalham and back. Dalham in particular is a beautiful country village (with the exception of the obvious fly in the ointment in the shape of the village hall!), but the whole walk was thoroughly enjoyable and a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
